- i got to the warehouse at work and noticed an old beat up boston bruins duffel bag. i noticed it had #1 on it and laughed thinking there was no way it was reggie lemlin's bag. then i got closer and saw the philly logo on the nametag and then his name. i freaked out for a minute, and then realized that because he lives in peabody and i was going out west (way out west), i wouldnt get my chance to meet him. boo. i did, however, take pix of his bag like the crazy rabid hockey fan that i am.
- pelham ma, unlike it's NH counterpart, is way the fuck in the middle of absoultely nowhere. east of amherst, so not really close to 91,west of 190 so all atempts there would be futile, south of greenfield so not really close to rte 2, too far north of the pike to have any easy access. since i was coming from leominster, 2->202 it was, as backwoods as it is. but -- more and more i'm starting to dig western ma. it was a fun drive, even with the fog. i could live there.
- the driveway to the pelham delivery had a giant downed tree branch across it, heh! it was fun rolling it out of the way and placing it right in the dirt road behind me, for the next oncomer to deal with. :x
- on my way through amherst and noho, i scanned the lower end of the FM dial to check the college stations and who do i hear but
- the 24 hrs great barrington cumby's still rocks for its cheap gas...and well, all cumby's rock, except i almost had to throw some punk into the frozen food cooler for mocking my gangsta lean.

parts of western MA are a lot like parts of VT. not completely, but similar style of living being in a rural area without any major cities nearby surrounded by hills. i still am not a fan of western MA though have spent most of my western MA time driving route 2 back and forth along the pioneer valley.

I'm hoping to get some season tickets this year, especially if they slash prices.
My mom used to work for a radio station that used to broadcast the Bruins and Sox, so I got to go to a LOT of Bruins games going up. I saw them play the Whalers and Canadians so many times. I also got to meet lots of the Bruins. Cam Neely was the coolest.

i remember my first hockey game was bruins vs whalers at the gahden. i think there were more fights in the stands than on the ice. good times.

gas stations
Off 91 in northern mass is a good truck stop/diner.Heading up 89 in NH, exit 11 for route 11. Head east I think, a few miles into town. The best exxon ever is on your left. The people there are incredibly nice, make some excellent breakfast sandwiches, and have perfectly brewed Green Mountain coffee in an abundance of flavors.

Re: more gas stations
good to know.there's a getty that's 24 hours (but debit/credit only from midnight to 5am) in the ~1600s on woodbury ave in portsmouth NH that always has the cheapest prices i've ever ever seen. it's right next to a BJs with gas that is a cent or two cheaper, but i dont have a BJs card and they're never open late so they dont count.
i'm a big fan of the 24 hour shell on 495/20 in marlboro. not for the gas, but for the free handi-wipes that they stack up at the pumps. whenever i'm in the area, i go there, use the bathroom, buy some coffee, and take 30 of the ever so useful fuckers.

Re: gas stations
i pass that to get to my parents' cabin up in danbury all the time. i think it was a mobil up until a year or two ago. but OMG, the breakfast sandwiches. i'm also a big fan of the steamed hot dogs they have. 10 times better than the ones on those stainless rotating thingies.July 27 2005, 22:15:51 UTC 6 years ago
Re: gas stations
there's this shell off 89 in lebanon, off rte 10, heading towards west lebanon. i went there last night. 4 packs of fresh made cookies, all different types, 99 cents, freshly made mini pies, donuts, pastries (they had jelly cream!), everything you could imagine. 24 hours. so cheap, so good.
